| The Davenport is a tall narrow desk with an inclined hinged writing slope which has been well copied though furniture history. This Regency style mahogany version is refined and elegant. It has a writing surface fitted with gold tooled leather that can be ordered in a choice of colours. Above the writing slope is a lidded compartment for storage of pens and writing accessories. Lifting the writing slope reveals a number of small drawers. The frieze below is decorated with intricate hand carved floral decoration. To the lower sides are 4 drawers to each side, and to the front are 2 turned and carved support columns. All in all a fine example of hand made mahogany furniture. |
